Build an irresistible lead magnet
That your ICP can’t ignore
Step 0 of Email Marketing is attracting readers. In this edition, learn how to create a powerful lead magnet to engage and grow your email list.
Most of you are probably looking for the starting point of email marketing, and building a lead magnet is step 0.
So, let’s jump into it.
First, we need to understand what a lead magnet is.
Like any other magnet, it attracts — but it attracts leads. A lead magnet could be an ebook, mini-course, or something that offers value in exchange for someone’s email address.
Email addresses are crucial, especially for business owners and CEOs, so you need to offer something they’re looking for in order to get their email.
I’ll show you how to create your own lead magnet in just 5 steps, using my own process as an example.
- Identify your target audience
Whatever you do, you need to understand why you are doing it and for whom.
The first step is very crucial, you need to identify who is it for. Rather, you will make it for everyone, that is not your goal.
And when I say, know the audience, that means knowing everything from their gender, age, interest everything. It will help you make the lead magnet better.
I am working on making my lead magnet, it is about getting the first 500 subscribers for email marketing.
Now who am I targeting? → Coaches, If I say, only coaches, then it will not be enough.
So, I had to think of this
Who are you targeting?
Coaches
Gender
Male
Age
30–55
Income
$100,000 — $300,000 per year
Lifestyle
Busy professionals managing multiple clients and projects, seeking work-life balance, focused on continuous self-improvement, and interested in personal development.
Location
Primarily English-speaking countries (e.g., USA, UK, Canada, Australia)
Platforms
LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook
Targeted Niche
Business coaches specializing in leadership, team management, and organizational development.
2. Know the problems & Know the pain points
If you don’t know the problem and going to solve it is like injecting a medicine which your patient never needed
So stop yourself and think of the key problem you’re solving
In my case, it is getting their first 500 subs, why? because getting the first 500 makes the change.
When people have any problem, they often try to solve it, always. Let’s say you have a problem of not being able to wake up early, so what do you try? You try to keep your alarm like
6:05
6:10
6:15
6:20
Relatable right? So what if someone gives you a way to wake up early?
Similarly, you have to give them a way to solve their pain points.
In my case, my ICP doesn’t know how to use email marketing tools, how to create a lead magnet, how to approach it, and how to promote it online.
3. Value Proposition
Let’s say, you have issues with your nose, will you go to a doctor who is a general physician? No right, you will go to an otolaryngologist, why? because you know the person is an expert in your problem.
Your problem will be better heard and there will be a solution which will be accurate for you.
Similarly, you’ve to ask these questions
How easy is your solution to understand and implement?
How fast will people see results?
How is it better than the other solutions available?
Let’s answer this question for my case
How easy is your solution to understand and implement? It is an ebook or I will make it a 5-day email course, where I will teach them the most basic words.
How fast will people see results? If people apply it right, people will get it within a month or before that.
How is it better than the other solutions available? First of all, it is free so my risk is literally 0, but I have credibility I can’t give anything to anyone, so my free value is more than someone’s paid.
4. Name, Write, and Design
This is a crucial step. When you give something a good name, people automatically start valuing it based on that.
Here’s the difference:
Healthy Mom’s Cookbook to Keep Her Child Safe from Any Disease
Keep Your Child Safe from Diseases, Read Our Book
Which title do you think people will choose? The first one, of course!
So, here’s the lesson: always connect with your audience from an emotional point of view.
Now, onto the writing part — make it as simple as possible.
As you’ve been reading my newsletter, tell me if there’s a single place where you felt stuck. I use examples to make things practical, and see? You’re enjoying it!
Now it’s your turn to do the same.
Designing isn’t my strength, but I always try to base it on psychology. What do I mean by this? People should feel the design, not just see it.
5. Create the landing page
Here comes the last point, you have everything ready now it needs to be launched.
I use Beehiiv for my newsletter. You can use Kit or anything you like to automate the process but for building a good landing page you can use carrd.co
Here is how the lead magnet funnel works 👇
Now we will see some landing pages.
In this landing page, you see, he is giving you something which helped him make $600K isn’t that a big no? Isn’t that something of interest?
Well, you can’t say no (and I know you’ll check this too)
Here he is giving his 120-minute course on the same topic that I am teaching today, but you promise me, you’ll love me more? haha.
Well that’s it for today, my lovely human
I will see with the modified newsletter next week, wait for me, okay?
Till then grab a dark chocolate share this newsletter with your friends and enjoy your weekend.
